We are very proud to congratulate the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Association for Disaster Waste Management (PADWM), Dr. Noralene “Lenee” Uy, on her appoint as Assistant Secretary for Policy, Planning, and Foreign-assisted and Special Projects of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Government of the Philippines.
Before joining the government, Dr. Uy was engaged in various projects for the Asian Development Bank, United Nations Development Programme, the German Agency for International Cooperation, the American and German Red Cross, and the Office of Civil Defense, Government of the Philippines. She was formerly a faculty member and the coordinator of the Master in Disaster Risk and Resilience degree program at the Ateneo de Manila University. Dr. Uy received her Master and Doctorate degrees in Global Environmental Studies from Kyoto University under a Japan Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) scholarship.
