To help Makati City staff formulate their disaster waste management contingency plan, we had a mentoring seminar on June 18, 2021. Dr. Maria Antonia “Tonette” Tanchuling, Professor at the Institute of Civil Engineering of the University of the Philippines Diliman, talked about disaster waste management in different areas in the Philippines. Dr. Ryo Tajima, Senior Researcher in the Material Cycles Division (Material Cycles and Social Systems Research Section) of the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Japan, shared insights on preparing a Temporary Storage Site (TSS) before a disaster.
